Zainabu Kur Mohammed

Zainabu Kur Mohammed is an accomplished entrepreneur and former banking executive with over 30 years of combined experience in the financial services sector. Her career spans 15 years in the Nigerian banking industry, where she rose to senior management positions, and over a decade as a business owner.

She began her banking career at United Bank for Africa (UBA) in 1990 during her National Youth Service, working in the Savings Account Department. She later joined Empire Group Ltd, a financial institution and stockbroking firm, where she gained hands on experience in treasury and money market operations.

In 1997, she moved to African International Bank, Kaduna, where she advanced from Deputy Manager to Principal Manager, overseeing foreign account operations, loan portfolios, deposit mobilization, letters of credit, and branch financial activities. In 2007, she joined First Bank of Nigeria Plc as Branch Manager and later Senior Manager, where she was responsible for branch operations, retail and SME banking, credit administration, investment funds, deposit mobilization, and customer service delivery. Following her banking career, Zainabu transitioned into entrepreneurship and later founded Gubikur Enterprise Limited, a trading company specializing in high quality merchandise sourced from the UAE and Europe. As Principal and Chief Executive Officer, she has successfully driven the company’s growth, leveraging her banking expertise and entrepreneurial acumen to achieve consistent expansion and innovation.

She holds an MBA in Management from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; a B.Sc. in Business Management from the University of Maiduguri; and a Diploma in Insurance from Ahmadu Bello University. She has also completed professional training in Strategic Management, Credit Management, Creativity and Innovation, Retail Banking, Business Writing, and Decision Making for Leaders.
